World is celebrating ‘ Earth Day ‘ today. It is being celebrated since 1970, It is celebrated to spread environmental awareness around the globe but there is some serious problem that we need to think upon

We are in an alarming state, there are several major environmental issues that world is facing today-

• Climate change
• Pollution
• Wildlife
• Deforestation
• Ozone depletion

Climate Change : World climate is changing rapidly and have resulted into global warming and melting of glaciers. If we do not take serious actions soon it will be too late.

Pollution : 92 per cent of the global population live in places with bad quality of air. India is in the bottom of pollution performance index, India ranks 177 out of 180 countries. Pollution is a major cause behind climate change, if not controlled soon, we will make this planet non-suitable for humans

Wildlife : Rate of species disappearance is 1000 times more than normal. 55% of wild animals have disappeared in last 40 years, It raises serious quetions on our survival

Deforestation :  It is estimated that within 100 years there will be no rainforests. We are cutting trees not just for need but for greed, Deforestation is one of the major reason behind global warming and climate change. We can not survive without forests.

Ozone depletion : Humans are trying hard to stop damage to the ozone layer by controlling the use of CFC and other chemicals over last 20-30 years but that’s not enough. We need to take some serious action against it. The major cause behind depletion is industrial harmful gases and increasing use of air conditioners,refrigerators etc.

On this earth day, we should take an auth to protect our mighty planet. Our small steps will help to make the change. for example try to avoid ACs when not required. Use public transport ,it will reduce pollution and so on.
